Dramatic Landscape
Calath offers a luxury stay for families or groups in a dramatic landscape. The highlight of the house is the large picture windows giving incredible views over Loch Harport and up to the mighty Cuillin ridge. There is a very well-equipped kitchen with a large oak dining table. There are high quality appliances with a electric induction hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge and full size dishwasher.
The patio doors lead out to a small area of decking, ideal for soaking up the morning sun, enjoying a meal or even an evening drink. In the winter, it’s a great spot for stargazing and might even offer a chance to view the Northern Lights.
Fully Equipped
The lounge is the perfect place to relax after a day out walking or exploring. There is large screen TV with DVD player, and an ipod compatible sound system for your own selection of tunes. The underfloor heating and wood-burning stove ensure it’s always cosy.
The house also offers free WIFI and a landline phone (free calls after 6pm), as mobile reception in this area can be patchy depending on your network.
In terms of sleeping, there are three good sized double bedrooms, two with king-size beds, and one twin room with two singles. The en-suite is downstairs with a huge bath for two!
Upstairs next to the twin room there is another toilet and shower room. There is also a studio/office with views across Loch Harport – an invitation to all artists to get busy. There is a nice selection of books and an exercise cycle if you want to stay in shape!
Calath is fantastic luxury holiday house with incredible views, and makes a great base for a holiday on the Isle of Skye. This top quality accommodation is ideal for families and groups of friends with some of the best views on Skye!
Perfect Days
Enjoy a fascinating tour around the famous Talisker Distillery in nearby Carbost (it’s only a 20 minute walk from the house), or go for a bar meal and local music in the Old Inn.
Skye is famous for its eagles, sea eagles in particular. Go for one of the many local coastal walks and don’t forget your binoculars.
Explore Talisker Bay with its striking beach of black and white sand and towering cliffs. It’s perfect for an evening sunset stroll.
If you’re feeling adventurous, take a walk up into Coire Laggan in the Cuillin Mountains, starting from from Glenbrittle. There’s no need scale the peaks
(that’s for experienced hillwalkers only); just sample the atmosphere in the coire and take in the stunning sea views.
Head to the island capital of Portree for a look around the independent shops, or enjoy some lunch.
Go for a wildlife boat cruise or pick up some scallops for dinner from the fishmonger on the pier.
Foodies could treat themselves to a gourmet meal at the world-famous Three Chimneys Restaurant, or sample some local ales and a ploughman’s lunch or some fresh seafood at the more modest Stein Inn, Skye’s oldest pub, at Lochbay.
Take a trip to Dunvegan Castle and gardens, the stronghold of the Chiefs of MacLeod for nearly 800 years.
