Cnoc Na Long dog friendly holiday cottage in Ardnamurchan. Remote former croft house sleeping up to five way out west, close to stunning beaches and the famous Ardnamurchan Lighthouse on Scotland’s west coast.
Tastefully refurbished with wooden floors, quality furnishings and art inspired by the beauty and history of this wonderful area, it’s the perfect place for long walks on the beach with you dog.
Private Garden
It’s set within an acre of private garden looking southeast across the western edge of the Ardnamurchan Ring Dyke (former volcano!). Originally built in the late 1800s, its recent restoration has retained many original features and captured the light and colours of this unique environment to create a very special place.
Dramatic views across the mountains
The dinning room/conservatory offers dramatic views across the mountains and ever changing weather, look out for eagles! The cosy woodburner is ideal for collapsing in front of after a wild walk on the beach.
The furnishings and art have been inspired the local area, including pieces made from reclaimed timber and driftwood gathered off local beaches.
It has one double bedroom and one twin bedroom full of really nice wooden furniture plus a single futon. The kitchen includes a large Belfast sink and range cooker, fridge freezer and microwave.
The only down side there’s no dishwasher! The bathroom features a huge cast iron bath, ideal for long relaxing soaks.
It’s a heck of a drive to get to this inspirational place, the last hour or so on narrow single tracks roads. It’s well worth the effort though! Cnoc na Long is within the tiny township of Achosnich, a gathering of six houses, three and a half miles north of the village of Kilchoan (which has a surprisingly good shop).
Stunning Vista across Sanna Bay
A short climb up the hill behind the house gives stunning vistas across Sanna Bay looking north towards the islands of Muck, Rhum, Eigg, Canna and Skye.
Within easy walking distance is the village of Portuairk, and a plethora of beaches, rock pools and scrambling rocks on the north coast of the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Two miles west of Achosnich is Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, the most westerly point on the British mainland.

Perfect Days
Take a walk along coastal path from Portuairk to the wonderful sands of Sanna Bay. Amazing views towards Rhum, Eigg, Canna and Skye and sunsets to die for!
Explore the path to the delightful sandy Bay MacNeil near the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, look out for basking sharks, dolphins or even whales!
The ferry crossing from Kilchoan to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Sample some local ales in the legendary Mishnish pub (dogs allowed).Or enjoy a seafood Lunch at the fantastic Fish cafe
Explore the local beach at Portuairk, a short walk from the cottage, clear waters and loads of interesting creatures, perfect place for an evening dogwalk!
Head for the hills! There are loads of superb walks in the nearby hills, overlooking the house, with top wildlife watching opportunities and a real feeling of escape.
Don’t forget to sample the free range eggs and tasty salad as sold by the neighbours!
