Coarann
Located amongst wild and remote scenery, and overlooking Loch Teacuis on the Morvern Peninsula, Coarann is an incredible find. This remote luxury house with amazing loch views sleeps 8 in style.
Morvern is a unique and special corner of the West Highlands, where a remote and dramatic land meets the sea. This is a very special place, well off the beaten track and home to huge array of wildlife. Caorann on the Rahoy Estate is a luxurious base for discovering the wild and unspoilt area, steeped in history.
Carefully designed by the architect-owner to make the most of the dramatic surroundings and spectacular lochside views, Caorann is sublime. The large open-plan living area has expanses of large picture windows overlooking the loch and hills.
Furnished to the highest standard with comfy sofas, solid oak flooring, outstanding pieces of furniture, unusual artwork and a contemporary log-burner, it really is an exceptional place to stay. Underfloor heating ensures cosy comfort.
There is a well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, oven and hob, microwave, wine-cooler and coffee machine, and utility/drying room with washing machine. Free WIFI throughout means you can stay in touch, despite the remote setting. However, note that the speed of connection is pretty slow, as might be expected in such a rural area. Mobile phone reception is very limited.
Outside is a delightful terrace area with tables and chairs, and a top-of-the range gas BBQ. Facing the loch, it’s a great place to enjoy an alfresco breakfast or dinner in the summer months.
The downstairs double bedroom looks out to the garden, which is visited regularly by deer and numerous birds. This room is also accessible for the less able. The stylish en-suite bathroom has a really cool contemporary free-standing bath and wraparound window, so you can literally soak up the views from the tub! Lovely lemongrass and ginger soaps from the Isle of Mull Soap Company complete the experience. Downstairs, an additional wet-room is more accessible for the less able.
Upstairs there is another double bedroom and an adjacent family bathroom (plus another WC). A funky twin bedroom has lots of quirky fun touches. This leads through to a further bedroom which can be used as a twin or a family room with a double and a single bed.
In this wild and remote landscape, the Rahoy Estate is a hidden gem. It’s not the easiest place to get to – miles of scenic driving on a single track road – but once you do arrive, you won’t want to leave. You can spend hours walking, wildlife watching or just reading a good book and taking in the loch views from beside the cosy fire. This spectacular luxury holiday house is perfect for a romantic escape or a larger family gathering.
Perfect Days
Grab the binocs and go wildlife watching! It’s a real wildlife haven for birds, deer, pine martin and, if you’re, lucky otters. There are good shoreline walks along both sides of Loch Teacuis.
Have a BBQ or enjoy a glass of something cool on the terrace and watch the clouds drift over the loch.
Enjoy a longer coastal or hill walk – ask Bill or Sue for advice on the best routes from the house
Go for a paddle! You can bring your own boat, canoe or kayak – Rahoy Estate has a light swing-mooring (launch and recovery available by arrangement).
The Ferry to Mull at Lochaline is only a 20-minute drive away. Explore Mull and Iona for the day, and enjoy a seafood feast at Café Fish in Tobermory or a tour of the excellent distillery
