Quirky mix of both new and up-cycled furniture
The cottage layout is on two floors. Downstairs, there’s a cosy lounge with two large sofas (one of which is a sofa bed), a splendid woodburning stove and original stone fireplace. This really heats the room well and is the perfect place to collapse after a long walk on the beach or clifftop hike. For wet weather, there’s a TV and good selection of board games. The owner is an artist and the cottage includes some stunning original artwork.
There is a good sized dining kitchen, with another lovely woodburner set in the original stone fireplace. The kitchen is well-equipped, with hob and oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a brilliant range of kitchen equipment – ideal for cooking up some of the superb local seafood from nearby Eyemouth. There is also an original and characterful butcher’s block. The dining table seats four and there is also a BBQ area outside the kitchen, accessed via a rear door. The rear garden is fully enclosed, home to an ancient apple tree, and there’s a log stack for extra logs for the woodburners.
Upstairs, there is a large double bedroom with period fireplace (not working) and a twin bedroom, and bathroom with over-bath rain shower. The bedrooms are restfully decorated and have really comfy beds.
