Faire Chaolais Morar

Faire Chaolais Morar

Striking Contemporary Holiday House!

Striking, contemporary architect-designed house, sleeping six, with incredible views over the silver sands of Morar towards the Isle of Rhum.

‘View of the Sound’

Faire Chaolais means ‘View of the Sound’ in Gaelic; the views to the sea are quite marvellous. This striking holiday house has clean and simple lines, and wonderfully light interiors. With polished concrete floors, white walls and minimalist interiors, the effect is akin to an upmarket art gallery!

This delightful house sleeps six in two double bedrooms and one room with bunk beds. Although it sleeps up to six, a couple on a romantic break alone wouldn’t feel out of place, its such a lovely house. There is a family bathroom and two high quality ensuite shower wet rooms. The bathrooms have contemporary facilities. There is also a hall/studio area with a great selection of books, maps and board games for the occasional wet day!

The large open living space on the upper floor makes the most of the seascapes and big skies, with the fully glazed gable end framing the views over the silver sands to the sea. This cantilevered lounge over the lower area culminates in huge sliding doors out to a balcony, again a place to take in the stunning sea views.

The lounge is a great place to relax with two large squashy leather sofas, dining area and a contemporary wood burning stove. It also has Freesat TV, DVD player and Bluetooth audio for playing your tunes. There is free Wi-Fi throughout (at typical rural speeds).

It’s easy to cook your own meals, including some fantastic fresh local seafood, with the well-equipped contemporary kitchen: acrylic worktops, dishwasher, induction hob, electric oven, microwave and fridge-freezer.

Close to some of the best beaches in Scotland

Faire Chaolais is close to some of the best beaches in Scotland, including the silver sands of Morar and the legendary Camusdarach Beach. The utility room with washing machine and drying rack are very useful after a day on the beach.

Award Winning Design

The house was designed in contemporary style by award-winning architects Dualchas to make the most of the position and was shortlisted for an RIBA award. The polished concrete floors work really well and reflect the fantastic natural light from large windows and skylights. A special larch rain screen covers two walls and the roof, as the house sits at ease in the wonderful west coast landscape.

The house uses the latest environmental technologies: an air source heat pump and a heat recovery ventilation unit power underfloor heating. It’s really warm and cosy, with the added boost of the woodburning stove in very cold weather.

Some of the appeal of staying in Faire Chaolais is that it’s nothing like most of our own homes; it’s clutter free with white walls, big spaces, clean lines, industrial floors and masses of natural light, a really unique place to stay.

The house has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating Band B and is licensed by Highland Council as a short term let, certificate number HI-40025-F.

Faire Chaolais, ‘View of the Sound’, is well named, as a fantastic contemporary holiday house with incredible views. Sleeping six in comfort and allowing dogs, it overlooks beautiful Morar on the West Coast,  close to some of the best sandy beaches in Scotland.
