Kirkland Lodge

Kirkland Lodge

Kirkland Lodge self-catering Holiday cottage is the perfect place to unwind, surrounded by the hills, woodland and lochs of Knapdale, Argyll on the west coast. The deal location for a family break.

The Lodge is located on the shore of Loch Sween, just north of the small and sleepy village of Achnamara on this quiet corner of the west coast, and is ideal for a romantic retreat. It’s a secluded spot, (about a mile away from the main farm house) and a special place; there is a peace and serenity to Kirkland Lodge, enhanced by amazing loch views from the front door.

Timber Lodge Accommodation

The timber lodge accommodation is bijou but comfortable and well-equipped for a relaxing stay. There are two bedrooms (sleeping up to 3 people), a shower room and a lovely open plan kitchen dining/lounge area.

There are Solar PV panels on the roof and a cosy woodburner with a generous provision of logs for winter evenings by the fire, while on warmer evenings you can throw open the patio doors to enjoy the stunning lochside views over dinner. Look out for deer in the garden late in the evening or early in the morning.

Friendly Owners

The helpful and friendly owners have thought of everything including a good selection of books and DVDs to watch, FREE Wifi, iPod doc, telephone, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer. For supplies, there is a fishmongers, butchers and a supermarket in the nearby town of Lochgilphead.

Nature Lovers

Kirkland Lodge self-catering Holiday cottage is a great base for nature lovers, with fantastic walking and a plethora of wildlife in the local area, including beavers and otters (should you be lucky enough to catch a glimpse), deer, red squirrels, a range of birds, lichens, flowering plants and mosses and a host of insects, moths and butterflies.

Perfect Days

Why not enjoy paddling out from the shore? The Lodge directly overlooks Loch Sween? (Bring your own canoe!)

The nearby Taynish Nature Reserve, run by Scottish Natural Heritage, offers guided walks during the summer.

Relax next to the nearby CrinanCanal, a great place to chill and enjoy a picnic on a sunny day, watching the boats go past.

Visit the picturesque village of Tayvallich; there is a brilliant coffee shop and a local inn which serves meals.

Explore Kilmartin Glen. Here you’ll find a great wee museum which charts the extensive ancient and geological past of the Argyll area. The Café offers amazing views and a fab selection of cakes.

Oban is also well worth a visit – it is a scenic drive and a seafood lunch at one of the many restaurants, or a Distillery tour, is a must!
