Loch Awe Boathouse

Loch Awe Boathouse

(formerly known as Achnacarron boathouse) The Loch Awe boathouse is a luxury lochside escape for couples  with spectacular panoramic views on the shores of Loch Awe, Scotland’s longest freshwater loch.

This stylish boathouse has fantastic state-of-the-art facilities and stunning loch views. Its ideal for couples looking for a romantic escape amongst dramatic highland scenery.  The owners have flair for interior design using top quality furnishings, fittings and lighting throughout.

Contemporary and Spacious

Built on the site of a former hunting lodge in picturesque Argyll, the architect- designed boathouse has a contemporary, spacious open-plan design with loch views from the large windows.

Wood-burning Stove

The downstairs has a contemporary kitchen/dining area and stylish and comfy seats by the wood burning stove. Its well equipped and has a Nespresso coffee machine. One of the highlights is a fantastic deck where you can enjoy a glass of something chilled and take in the amazing views over the water to the woodlands and hills beyond.

The master bedroom is also located on the ground floor with modern en-suite facilities, including a fantastic power shower and comfy bed. There is also another bathroom (with superb shower), a very useful drying room and utility room on this level.

Panoramic views across Loch Awe

Upstairs offers a cosy lounge with large glass wall offering panoramic views across Loch Awe and another good sized double bedroom. The Boathouse comes with free Wi-Fi, TV, DVD player, a library of films and books, and a mini iPod dock system.

The Boathouse is the perfect place to unwind and relax; standing in six acres of secluded Highland woodland it feels remote. With fishing boats pottering about on Loch Awe, and nearby mountains such as mighty Ben Cruachan, this is some of the best scenery in Scotland.

Although it feels like you are staying in the wilderness, the location is surprisingly accessible, only 20 mins down a single track road from Taynuilt and the busy A85 to Oban. Note that the last mile or so to the Boathouse is on rough (but tame)farm track.

Private Pier and Fishing Rights

The boathouse has its own private pier and fishing rights so if you love fishing or messing about in boats this is the place for you. The owners have two canoes and a Paddle board  for you to use or you can bring your own canoe or pre-order a small boat and outboard from the boatyard across the water.

Wildlife lovers are treated to frequent sightings of deer, pine marten, red squirrel and even otters! Twitchers might see a variety of birds locally including Osprey and Barn Owls.

Achnacarron luxury boathouse in Argyll Scotland is an outstanding Highland holiday house for two  with incredible loch views and superb facilities. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy some of the best scenery in the west Highlands.

Perfect Days

Enjoy a day’s hillwalking. A circuit of Ben Cruachans famous horseshoe is one of the finest in the Highlands (1126m),with breathtaking views.

Take a drive along Loch Awe to the historic ruins of Kilchurn Castle. one of the most romantic castle locations in Scotland.

Visit nearby Oban, busy west coast port and gateway to the Isles. Take in a distillery tour, go for a wander around the pier and sample some fantastic local seafood from the stalls, or go for a slap up lunch or even take a day trip to the nearby Isle of Mull.

Take a boat trip up Loch Etive, one of the most beautiful and remote in Scotland. Stunning views of the Glencoe mountains from a completely new angle.

If the weather is poor, you can explore the fascinating Cruachan Visitor Centre. This underground hydro electric station lies deep below the mountain and is well worth a trip.
