This stunning large Highland holiday house is perched on the edge of a remote and picturesque loch in the far North West Highlands near Lochinver. It’s Ideal for larger groups or families sharing.
A large and comfortable house in the wilds of Assynt, it sleeps up to 10 and is a superb base for exploring this wonderful wild landscape. Lochside is located on the edge of lonely Loch Culag, just outside the village of Lochinver, in the far North West Highlands of Scotland.
One of the highlights must be the fabulous ‘Loch Room’. This lounge has uninterrupted views across the loch to mountains beyond. It offers comfy sofas and armchairs, perfect for soaking up the views and relaxing by the fire with a dram. For musicians there’s even a piano!
The house is well-equipped for families with Sky TV, DVD, WI-FI, as well as board games and jigsaws but you don’t come here to watch TV! This impressive house allows you access to some of the best fly-fishing, hill walking and coastal scenery in Scotland.
There is a well-equipped country-style kitchen, with double oven rangemaster cooker, microwave, bread maker, fridge and dishwasher. Wake up to the smell of your own fresh baked bread. A separate utility room has a washing machine, tumble drier, second sink and fridge-freezer. The dining room is traditionally furnished for up to 10 guests and has an open fire. This leads through to a cosy study room, complete with a small library of books.
Upstairs the master bedroom has an amazing gable end window, with dramatic views, leading on to a small covered balcony. There is an en-suite shower room and dressing room area. There are two additional bedrooms – a double bedroom and the ‘bunkroom’ with twin beds and extra cabin beds/ cots available perfect for kids. There is a shared bathroom with bath and separate shower.Downstairs there are another two bedrooms (one twin, one double) and a nicely finished bathroom.

Spend the day at the empty sandy beaches at Achmelvich, with its turquoise waters and white sands.
Explore the nearby Culag Wood. A number of woodland walks lead to rocky coves, with pebble beaches and stunning mountain and coastal views.
Take a walk up to the impressive Kirkaig Falls. A good path takes in Loch Kirkaig and offers views to Suilven, one of Scotland’s most iconic mountains.
Explore Lochiver village.. Pick up some fresh local seafood – visit Mackay’s Fish Merchants. The Highland Stoneware pottery shop is also worth a visit.
Enjoy lunch in the Larder Riverside Bistro with a huge range of pies with exotic fillings including wild boar and venison!
Go fishing in one of the many trout lochs; ask the owners who live opposite for some local tips!
