The Old Brewhouse
The Old Brewhouse holiday cottage Bamff Estate is a charming cottage conversion of the old brewhouse and dairy on the historic Bamff Estate in Perthshire, renowned for its beavers and wild boar!
The cottage is the refurbished Victorian wing of the main house, packed full of character and retaining many original features such as stone floors, stone shelves, its pantry cupboards, Belfast sinks, original tiling, window shutters and a roll-top bath. It was used as scullery, larders, brewhouse, dairy and washroom, when the estate made its own beer, butter and cheese.
It’s a compact but cosy place to stay and an ideal location for wildlife enthusiasts. Bamff Estate has its own beavers and wild boar, as well as many species of birds, mammals and amphibians. You can even watch the roe deer from the windows of the cottage and might catch a glimpse of a pine martin! The cottage is set in acres of pasture, woodland and moorland, and you are pretty much free to wander.
The Old Brewhouse sleeps four with two bedrooms, a double, and a twin. It offers a dining room and a compact sitting room with wood burning stove, which is perfect for relaxing after a day out walking. There is a TV/DVD player if the weather is poor. Broadband is also available throughout the cottage.
Outside there is a huge lawn area with tables and chairs and BBQ for enjoying the best of the weather, plus a tree swing and trampoline for the kids.
There is period kitchen with dishwasher, cooker and microwave, and a small bathroom with roll-top bath and electric shower. The porch houses a washing machine and deep freeze. Central heating is supplied by an eco-friendly woodchip heating system.
The Bamff Estate owners have strong commitment to the ecological management with the reintroduction of beavers and a herd of wild boar, organic sheep farming, timber, native woodland and forest regeneration. Bamff is home to an amazing wetland restoration project using European beavers, which have built around 20 dams on the estate!
The Old BrewHouse cottage Bamff Estate is a hidden gem set in stunning countryside; it’s a great place to relax and enjoy a break off the beaten track.
