Forest Holidays Strathyre Cabins

Strathyre Forest Luxury Cabins

Strathyre Forest luxury cabins in the Trossachs are ideal for families. Upmarket lochside cabins with outdoor private hot tubs, set amongst trees and mountains in the heart of The Trossachs.

These luxury Silver Birch cabins, operated by Forest Holidays, are the perfect place to relax. With a fantastic lochside location in the shadow of Ben Ledi and superb facilities, they are the ideal family escape, you can even book a dog friendly cabin!

On the shores of Loch Luibnig

Set on the shores of Loch Luibnig, surrounded by mountain scenery, the cabins are spaced out on a well maintained site. The Silver Birch cabins are designed with an open-plan living area and contemporary well-equipped kitchen. When we stayed there was no wifi and only a few TV channels, so don’t forget some DVDs. (However we were told they are hoping to upgrade the wifi soon.)

En-suite Double Bedroom

The good sized upstairs double bedroom is en-suite, while the downstairs twin room had a shower room next to it. All the furniture and fittings are good quality, but the highlight for us and our kids was the private outdoor hot tub, perfect for a lazy day or relaxing after a day’s walking or even skiing (Glencoe ski area is just over an hour away).

There are 35 cabins on the site, they are cleverly placed so you don’t feel too close to your neighbours and, as the site is very family orientated, it’s pretty quiet at night. Another big bonus is that the area is very accessible, only 15 minutes away from the gateway to the Trossachs, Callander, and under an hour and half from Glasgow.

Friendly team

The team at the on-site Forest Retreat are really friendly. We loved being able to order freshly baked bread for breakfast and, one evening the kids enjoyed a huge pizza delivered to our cabin. Look out for the regular offers in the café. There is also a nice wee shop, stocked full of goodies, including local beers and home-cooked frozen ready meals. The helpful staff are on hand to offer advice and tips on local walks and bike rides.

You can also arrange bike hire and select from a range of activities, such as a wildlife safari, archery, bush skills, canoeing on Loch Luibnig, as well as in-cabin spa treatments.

Heart of the Trossachs

Set in the heart of the Trossachs, this is fantastic walking country, ranging from lochside rambles and forest walks from the door, to high level hillwalking. There are plenty of good local forest trails for cyclists and mountain bikers too. Just ask the staff for advice.

The Silver Birch Cabins are top notch and offer a comfortable forest break set amongst outstanding scenery. There are other styles of cabins available, including the ‘uber posh’ Golden Oak, with a range of services and accommodating different numbers of guests.

Perfect Days

Explore the Trossachs. Take a trip on the vintage SS Sir Walter Scott steamship on Loch Katrine. Its over 100 years old!

Take a drive along the dramatic ‘Dukes Pass’, through the Trossachs to the Lodge Forest Visitor Centre near Aberfoyle. Enjoy waterfall walks, nature trails, visit a red squirrel hide or have a go on the UK’s longest zip wire at Go Ape treetop adventures.

Enjoy a day’s hillwalking. How about a trip up Ben Ledi (879m) which overlooks the site? Or a walk up Ben A’an, (469m) a superb rocky hill with a huge character and stunning views down Loch Katrine?

Go for a blow-out lunch at the acclaimed Monachyle Mhor Country house at the end of Balquidder Glen. You can also visit the atmospheric Balquidder Kirk, location of Rob Roy’s grave, en route!

Just chill out in the hot tub or relax with a soothing massage, or other luxury spa treatment, in the comfort of your own cabin.

Sample some great live music, play some pool and enjoy locally sourced pub grub at the nearby Mhor 84, just north of Strathyre. The cakes are legendary!

Go for a twilight nature walk with the on-site Forest Rangers. The kids will love it! There is a fantastic array of local wildlife in the woods and along the loch. Just book at the Forest Retreat.
