Tomnahurich Bridge House is tasteful, top quality refurbishment of the former bridge keeper’s house with good facilities and stylish interiors throughout. It located on the Caledonian Canal, only a mile from Inverness city centre.
Elegant and filled with Character
It’s an elegant property, full of character features with plenty of room for four people, with twin and double bedrooms, a compact dining kitchen. It has a charming sitting room with leather sofas and cracking wood-burning stove. The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and microwave.
Its dog friendly accommodation, which means your hound can come along too! (Note there is no WIFI, although we could access internet via 4G on our phones)
Delightful upstairs window seat
One of the highlights is the delightful upstairs window seat overlooking the canal where you can relax with a book or just sit and watch the boats go past. The upstairs bedrooms are a good size, although the double bed in the master bedroom is comfy but rather small.
There are plenty of great tow-path walks available straight from the door. You can take the path through the Ness Islands into the centre of Inverness. Closer to home and only a short stroll away is the Inverness Leisure Centre with a great pool with three slides and a wave machine. The Floral Hall and Gardens, with a café inside is also worth exploring.
Tomnahurich Bridge House is one of a number of historic cottages including former lock keeper’s houses which have been tastefully restored in similar style by Scottish Canals.
Tomnahurich Bridge House is a superb canal side holiday house, Perfect for families. Its location on the outskirts of Inverness makes it the perfect base to enjoy Highland holiday. Inverness, Loch Ness and the Great Glen and all their attractions, are all easily accessible.
Take a boat trip on Loch Ness and go ‘Nessie spotting’. Award winning Jacobite Cruises sail from directly opposite the house.
Take a walk along the tow path into Inverness. It’s just over a mile to Inverness. Go shopping in the Victorian Market, visit the cathedral, or Inverness Museum and Art Gallery.
Try the waterslides at Inverness Leisure Centre, only 5 minutes’ walk from the house, the kid will love it.
Go for a walk along the Caledonian Canal or some enjoy family friendly cycling along part of the Great Glen Way.
Enjoy dolphin spotting on the Moray Firth. Chanory Point is probably the best place to watch for Bottlenose Dolphins.
Take a drive along Loch Ness to the historic ruins of Urquhart Castle, one of the finest castles in Scotland or head over to the impressive Fort George overlooking the Moray Firth.
