West Lodge is an exceptional holiday house. The interiors are luxurious and the owners have thought to cater for your every need.
Full of history, character and charm it was originally the gatehouse to the Dunachton Estate, built in 1860, and has very recently been refurbished and refitted. It’s a sympathetic upgrade with a stylish combination of period features and state of the art facilities. Don’t miss the Clan Macpherson cat carved in stone by the entrance!

The location of the Lodge is delightful, with breath-taking views towards the mighty Cairngorm peaks. It’s just a short walk from the house to the beautiful Loch Inch, you even have use of the owner’s rowing boat if you fancy a wee trip. The area is surrounded by beautiful woodland and there are loads of great walks nearby.
Inside the gatehouse, which is all on one level, the tastefully decorated lounge has a toasty woodburner, just the place to relax in the evenings with a good book or even a dram. There’s also a television and WIFI throughout. The room also enjoys dramatic mountain views.
Stylish refurbishment with top facilities
The well-equipped contemporary kitchen has a classic butlers sink, oven, fridge, Nespresso coffee machine and washing machine. In fact, everything you need for cooking up a fantastic meal from some of the fab local produce available.
The dining room next door is a bright room and the table seats four, in case you want to have some friends over for dinner. There’s also a BBQ and outdoor eating area on the decking outside. In the summer months, you’ll be able to enjoy breakfast or lunch outside in the sunshine if you’re lucky.
The bedroom is comfortable, light and airy and boasts a king size bed, and the classy bathroom has both a bath and shower. Ideal for a soak after a day out exploring or even a swim in the loch!
Enjoy stargazing from the hot tub
One of the highlights of course is the outdoor hot tub, such a romantic place to relax, if you’re lucky with the weather you could even enjoy a spot of stargazing from the hot tub.
There are so many outdoor activities to enjoy locally and luckily there’s plenty of space to securely store your bikes, fishing equipment or skis or boards in the stone shed in the garden. The garden is secure and fenced, ideal if you bring your dog.

Go for a walk from the Lodge around the shore of the loch to Kincraig village, a wee Highland gem. Its delightful cafe, The Old Post Office, serves fabulous cream cakes and tasty Italian food (eat in or takeaway).
Go for a swim in the loch or try watersports at nearby Loch Inch Outdoor Centre, you can hire out a dinghy, windsurf, kayak or even canoe.
Visit the nearby Highland Wildlife Park. Loads to see, including Mercedes the Polar Bear!
Explore the amazing Loch an Eilein. Enjoy a walk around the loch, a magical place at any time of year, surrounded by trees and mountains.
Why not hire bikes and explore the old logging and forest trails around Rothiemurchus and Glenmore. The rides to the Green Lochan or around Loch Morlich are superb.
There are some fantastic hillwalks available on the Cairngorms plateau, including, Cairngorm (1245m) and Ben Macdui (1309m).
In winter you can enjoy Snowsports on Cairngorm Mountain, with ski and board hire available.
Go and visit the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd at Glenmore, a guided trip into the hills to see these wonderful animals.
Relax, buy some local trout or venison and enjoy lunch on the decking with a glass of something chilled.
